Worst assistance and service - VW Touareq Fire

We are now done! Done begging, done pleading for service and proper assistance.

We have been more than accommodating from the start. We bought this vehicle in

November 2016, from Aplina Auto, Boksburg, on or about the 11/10/2016.

I was assisted throughout the process by Quintin Williams. During the entire process of purchasing this

vehicle the dealership guaranteed me in writing and verbally that the vehicle is in perfect

running condition with no mechanical problems. On this basis I proceeded with the purchase.

I at ALL times advised all the parties that I am a mother of three children under 7 years and

drive with them on a daily basis so mechanical issues is NO OPTION. Find attached hereto

the mails and agreements which indicates the details explicitly.

The vehicle WAS STILL under the 100 000km warrantee, when it was purchased. I took it to

VW Claremont in Cape Town for a full service and “check-up” to ensure the vehicle is a 100%

to use for my family.

This VW dealership the supposedly fixed the major oil leak found in the car between the gearbox

and the engine. Thus the whole saga began to unfold.

After this last 6 months the car was in the various VW workshops approximately 12 weeks in total.

This has been a back and forth process with none of the various parties wanting to take responsibility.

They either reply with;

“It was in great condition when we sent it”

“It was 100% fixed when released”

“This is another oil leak, not the same one”

“It’s not our fault, it is a new problem”

Etc.

VW South Africa has all the various correspondence on record.

After all of this and getting the vehicle back on Friday after about 4 weeks, we drive it to and from

work. During the trip the car lost all power and various warning lights again appeared. We were

shocked! How this be? We just spent almost R 30 000.00 on this car!

My husband pushed the petrol pedal flat to the floor and the car would only move at maximum

50 km p/h. We proceeded to drive in the emergency lane and I phoned the VW 24 hour support

Line. I spoke to a person called, Llewellyn. During the call, we could smell something burning.

We asked what to do and all parties were completely shocked. We proceeded to drive slowly to

our home. Where a technician was dispatched. The technician then proceeded to conduct a

test process. He indicated that the “red” blocks showing was issues on the car. There were several

blocks.

After a while he jumped out in a destressed state, saying something is burning. My husband ran

Around the vehicle trying to see where the car was on fire. He then saw it was below the boot

Space area. He immediately ran into the house to get a bucket and water. He then after several

Trips managed to get the fire out. After a couple of minutes the again smelled the burning. They

Opened the boot space and when the technician opened the space wheel flap the entire left side

Was on fire!!!!

They again ran around like crazy people to get water and attempt to put it out.

When it was finally put out, we again are now stuck with a burned, soaked, broken car.

AGAIN!

The flatbed truck collected it last night and we are awaiting the “excuse” from VW, why it’s not

their problem or fault.

We feel we were let down by all of the abovementioned parties. To date it is just getting worse.

Honestly – no one cares!

Worst assistance and service : 8 weeks later!! and still only response I get, ONLY when I phone or mail;

"Matter is still being investigated."
