What's the point of accreditation

Rather use any mechanic - What's the point of using an accredited VW service centre is pointless.

I have the fortune of driving a VW CC - I've always said I would never buy VW because everyone I knew had problems with theirs.

But I just loved the Passat CC and thought just give it a try - the 6th sense said no, but Passat was a "different" more exclusive range my ****.

Anyway, my car got sluggish in 2016, and we had it repaired at VW Constantia. These things happen, you know. We replaced the water pump ..... and the car was on its merry way.

This year 2018 the same thing happens, so I call Mc Carthy Volkswagen Clearwater - and speak to the service manager Tyrone and explain the problem and ask what the problem could be and what the financial ramifications could be.

Rightly so it was a guestimate, and I made arrangement to take the car in on the Monday for assessment.

Unfortunately, the car was taken in on Tuesday for a service with a service technician Michael.

So the pointless process begins.

The car is booked in and we are told the quote is R 90000 and .....

So I call Tyrone and check if this will fix the car, fix the lights flashing etc.

After a lengthy discussion on the phone, I agreed with the suggestion that we fix the problem, and replace some switch to confirm why the fan is not working ( heater ).

The car went in to be repaired, and when my husband called the Friday, he was only told then (late ) afternoon that the car was not serviced, the part had not arrived.

We were given the car and told to bring the car back the Monday. When we took the car back on the Monday, there was another light on.

I called Tyrone and I was very irritated that the car was not serviced and that we were only told when we wanted to fetch the car.

Tyrone investigated and found out that the part had indeed been delivered but had damaged.

He arranged a courtesy car and confirmed that the car would be fixed in the same week.

The day we were told to pick the car up once again Michael told my husband that there was a problem with the car and that it would cost R37 000 ..... to fix. This once again when we were on our way to fetch the car.

I called Michael and Tyrone to discuss this and then contacted Head Office on the Friday. Tyrone called my husband with 2 recommendations, and my husband gave the go ahead.

All the lights were off, and we took delivery of our car. A day later the light went on. I called Tyrone and notified him and he asked me to bring the car in for a quick inspection.

The light went off. There was still some residue, I was on my way to Hartbee****rt and they technician said that it would help get rid of the residue that remained.

It is the 18th July and this sorted affair still continues and the response from Head Office.

The car is no longer under warranty We understand your frustration

Michael is passing the baton on to Tyrone who is not available and the Dealer principle wants to know who I am.

But I know I'm just a small fish, driving a car out of warranty, they've got the money.

Moral of the story - VW CLEARWATER SERVICE CENTER IS NOT WORTH THE SO-CALLED ACCREDITATION YOU MIGHT AS WELL TAKE IT TO A BACK DOOR MECHANIC
