Whats next...

Starting from the beginning. Having heard great things from the Volkswagen group from friends with regards to quality and after sales service. I proceeded to buy a new Polo 1.2 tsi in Dec 2016 at the Nelspruit dealership. If you are looking for anything remotely close to what I described above then please don’t ever set your foot into Tavcor Volkswagen Port Elizabeth the one located in William Moffat Drive. The experience has gone from absurd to utterly disappointing to say the least.

On the third wash of my car I noticed that the rubber beading around my cars windows was starting to fade to an off whitish colour. I decided to take the car in to Tavcor my closest dealer as im now located in PE, it was inspected (which took a whole day, the car was also returned with some sort of silicone/grease all over the rubber in an effort I suppose to make it look blacker??) and I was told that the soap I was using was the reason for the discolouration. Now I’m sorry, but we wash 3 other cars (Including a VW polo) with the exact same soap and their rubber looks as what it did the day it came out of the factory. Not happy with this response I complained again and was told that the regional manager was going to be at VW and that I should bring the car in to be looked at. Fair enough I took it in on the day and was then told “Oh it’s supposed to go like that, replacing it will only result in the new rubber also going like this”. Now I’m sorry but unless I ordered a special off white type of rubber that I was unaware of, why is my cars rubber beading the only rubber that’s going like this? I’ve looked at several other polo models like mine and their rubber has no discolouration, also what ever happened to the soap story????. Once again not happy with that answer I then contacted the dealer that I bought the car from in Nelspruit, the sales person that sold me the car immediately agreed to replace the rubber but I have to get the car to Nelspruit… So I must now drive +- 1500KM from PE to Nelspruit because Tavcor VW PE will not replace my rubber. A total trip of 3000KM at my own cost!!!!

Secondly the car never came with a clip that neatens/covers a hole in the defroster section of the front window. When I took the car in to be checked for the rubber I was told by Gary from Tavcor that he would order the part and that he would contact me once it arrives.. 2 months down the line after not hearing from him I phoned to follow up, he was not available so I left a message for him to phone me back. After another 3 weeks, guess what, no call from Gary. Then phoned VW’s customer care line to complain. Seems like that worked, because I got a call from Gary.. Only to be told that “because it’s a missing part they aren’t willing to cover the cost, but they won’t charge me labour to install the new one”. So besides the fact that it took 3 months to tell me this, they are also expecting me to pay for a new part. A part that I never received when I got my NEW car. It only costs R53 to buy the new part, but just the fact that im expected to pay for something I never received in the first place is beyond my belief. And then they have the cheek to say they will cover the labour.. It’s going to take you two seconds to clip the part into place. WHAT LABOUR????

I refuse to take my car to Tavcor VW ever again. I’m actually willing to drive my car to Jeffrey’s bay to service it there just to avoid this place. VW Nelspruit could really teach them a thing or two about customer service, as they have bent over backwards to try and fix any quality issues I’ve encountered.
