Weiss VW Durban
I took my VW golf to Weiss Motors in Durban for a 20000km service as per job card no 17883. On arrival at06:50 I was met by a long queue and was only processed at 07:30, the service advisor explained that it was due to overbooking by the centralized booking system. I had a few minor issues which included a leaking roof, squeaky windows and a poorly sealed driver’s window. The service advisor mentioned that they might not see to my faults as they were overbooked. When I suggested that they should not have accepted all the bookings if they had logistical issues and rather referred me to another dealer who would be able to attend to me , he once again blamed centralized booking. Upon collection of my vehicle I discovered none of the issues I had pointed out had been attended too, the service manager indicated that my issues could only be attended to in a months time but was unable to provide a date. He then blamed COVID and said parts have to be shipped from Germany and it takes approximately three months. My issue with this is firstly we are encouraged to buy local and support local businesses with the tacit implication that there are none of the logistical issues suffered by other brands. The fact that no relief or alternative was offered by Weiss is quite annoying as I would not have forked out the additional cash for an extended warranty that has no value and the standard factory warranty is clearly not worth the paper it’s written on. I have received better service for my work D/cab that is supposedly a non premium brand. I still have the problems listed to date with no relief. I will definitely not be returning to Weiss Volkswagen and would seriously suggest that anyone contemplating buying a VW consider the lack of aftermarket service.
