Warranty Concern – Perished Door Seal on 2023 VW Polo

I recently had my 2023 VW Polo serviced at West Cape VW and was disappointed to discover that the driver’s side door seal had completely perished. I raised this issue with VW South Africa, but was informed that it is considered normal wear and tear from entering and exiting the vehicle, and therefore not covered under the manufacturer’s warranty.

This explanation is unacceptable to me. The vehicle has only 25,000 km on the clock and is just two years old. I believe it is entirely reasonable to expect a door seal to last significantly longer under normal use. For context, I owned a previous model Polo for nearly 10 years and never encountered such an issue. I’m very disappointed with how this has been handled. Based on this experience, I will seriously reconsider ever purchasing or recommending a VW vehicle again.
