VWSA service
On Saturday, 19th of March, I had a few issues with the car. After having parked the car in a parking lot in Umhlanga on my return the car keys did not want to automatically open the car. Each time I pressed the unlock button 2 alarms would go off. I had called the salesman (Nathan Smith) @ palms motor to assist as I had assumed it was an issue with the key. I was told to try open the car manually and start it. I managed to open the car manually and switched on the car and the alarms went off for about 30s. After 30s the car switched off and I was not able to start it again as the EPC light came on. During this time the 2 alarms are still going off even as I try to lock the car manually and attempted to start the car of which I didn’t succeed. It also turned out the key needed to be reprogrammed.
I then called vw SA of which I was assisted with a technician who stated the car needs to be towed away because of the non-start caused by the EPC and they could only look at the car after the long weekend on what the issue is causing the EPC.
This is a brand new car on 1000km and I’m not happy with the product. I am not willing to take on a car that is giving me EPC problems within 7 days of purchase and is to be repaired. I was not able to get assistance with a courtesy car either as vw does not take into consideration of such issues during non working hours. I had serious family issues to sort out port shepstone and errands to run. I was only assisted for 24hours with a 24 hour rental car as they had made me pick between an Uber to greytown, which was not the plan as I had serious things to sort out during that time, and a 24 hour rental.
I requested the car be returned and I was told that will be a problem if it’s a minor issue. It has been 9 days since the incident and I still have not received a courtesy car or a call on an update on what is happening with the progress of this issue. I am carless yet paying for a car I don’t have
Kind regards Sivuyile Mthembu
