VW Umhlanga Smashed My Vehicle!

As the caption’s states. This is going to be a long one but it worth the time reading this and making a better choice than an unreliable vehicle brand.

On the 21st of January (Thursday) I took my VW Golf 7 Tsi in to Volkswagon Umhlanga for a major service. I left my vehicle in the workshop and left at 7:30 after the service inspector (Shaun) did his necessary checks on my vehicle. Might I add he was very quick to point on all the minor scratches on my vehicle that I did not notice. Fair enough. But here’s where it gets better. At 8:30 I receive a call stating that there has been a “minor issue” and that my vehicle needs to be sent through the panel beaters and that I will receive my vehicle by Monday. I immediately rushed over to see the “minor issue” only to find the front right of my vehicle smashed. My fender was pushed in, my bumper was hanging, BROKEN, my headlight damaged and my bonnet shifted. They took 0 ownership of the incident and advised that the vehicle was parked outside and that a customer knocked it and drove off. They never saw the customer though and neither could they provide me camera footage of the incident. It was so convenient that the vehicle was moved to a spot that had no camera yet I left it in the workshop. I demanded VW to replace my vehicle as It is now accident damage but after convincing from James who was the service manager, I agreed to a repair that they would conduct at their cost. I then came back in the evening and spoke to Renay who I asked, that if the vehicle is repaired, and I then want to trade it in… would I get the same value of the vehicle, and she stated that yes VW would do the trade in however due to the accident I would not get my value’s worth. However, James changed the story and I advise I won’t lose value, yet he could not do a trade in for me. I then picked up a courtesy car and left the dealership. Monday (25th January) I received NO Feedback from the dealership. I then called in and sked for Shaun and to my surprise he was unaware of who I am. After a few minutes, he was like “Oh yes, I remember now. I apologise I was just thinking which customer I was talking too”. REALLY?! How many customers have VW Umhlanga been doing this too that they can’t remember an incident this drastic? He then told me James would call me. Around 4:30 James calls me and advised that the car was only sent to the panel beater on Monday and that he does not want to rush them as they need to do a good job and the vehicle should be in on Wednesday or Thursday. I waited only to receive a call Wednesday morning from Shaun advising that the did not have stock of brackets to hold the Bumper in place at the vehicle will only be ready next Monday or Tuesday! By now you could imagine my Frustration! On Monday, February 1st I then called up the Panel beaters to see the progress of my vehicle and they have advised that the car will be ready by the evening and sent to the dealership! I then called the dealership Tuesday morning after receiving NO Feedback from them, asking them what is the progress of my vehicle and they advised that they are waiting on the aircon guy to check the aircon out (I did also book the car in for an aircon recon) and that he will be in during the course of Tuesday! I received a call from Shaun around 4pm advising the guy has not come in and that he will be in Wednesday morning. It’s now 10:40am I have just picked my vehicle from VW Umhlanga. The inside fender was not sprayed properly, my aircon was not fixed and neither was car been to an Auto Valet as per James Promise. I was originally quoted R5500 for the service including a Pulley Change, I now paid R4250 excluding the pulley change and James & Shaun calls that a discount from my original price. They now discount clients at their own expense. VW SA has done nothing regarding my experiences! & are just accepting what the dealership is saying.
