VW Polo Warranty not covering claim

I drive a 2014 VW 1.4 Polo Vivo. The vehicle has 31830kms on the clock. I experienced problems in selecting gears, the clutch then would not respond. i had the vehicle towed to Barons Tokai. They have come back to me and said it was my fault. Surely a vehicle that is under warranty at this amount of kilometers shouldn't do this?? Why will VW not cover my claim??<br>
