VW Polo TSI 1.0 - 2018 Model

I know VW SA won’t respond but I will post my comments anyway.

Problems experienced to date with this car/ model. 1. As per the letter sent by VW SA on 13.12.2018 – “the belt buckle for the left rear seat can unintentionally become unbuckled in certain driving situations”. I had to take the car to a VW dealership to fix this. 2. As per the letter you sent by VW SA on 18.02.2019 – “the grinding of the brake linings and settling of the drum brake during use can lead to a loss of tension on the handbrake cables and, consequently, on the adjustment nut of the handbrake lever adjustment”. I had to take the car to a VW dealership to fix this. 3. Clutch - I had a breakdown on 12.07.2020 on my way to work and the car had to be towed to the nearest VW dealership. The dealership and VW SA failed to provide a courtesy car while they were “fixing” the issue. 4. Another breakdown on 03.04.2021. The car had to be towed to the nearest VW dealership. Your preliminary investigations indicate that there is an issue with the clutch (again) and also the gearbox transmission. They still cannot provide me with a courtesy car while my car is still with the dealership.

God forbid there are fatalities due to mechanical failures of this car/model. I cannot travel long distances with this car for the fear of having another breakdown or the speeding declining while trying to overtake. No peace of mind for a car that was bought brand new. VW SA doesn’t even care. As for the dealership, you are referred to their Service Manager, Katlego who never answers his phone or bother to call back. The car is still within warranty and currently on 33000km.
