VW POLO 1.4 Manual - NO-GO

Major Concern and Customer complaint

I hereby want to log a Customer complaint and wish to advise that in light of what has transpired with this vehicle, that I have lost all confidence in this vehicle and I do not regard this it as trustworthy neither reliable and no longer feel that it is safe for my daughter to drive it.

The vehicle has less than 32,000 kilometres on the odometer and can still be regarded as a new vehicle.

The brand that I believed in and have put my trust in for many years has failed to deliver in this instance.

I have paid money for a vehicle that has failed to deliver on the promises of the VW brand.

I do not want to be told that all cars can break, even new ones! This will only be the case if you do not have a quality product and if you do not believe your product is a solid trustworthy product;

It just seems wrong that it is deemed to be acceptable that the customer ends up with the bad end of the stick; that the customer is eventually stuck with an utter inferior product that does not uphold the brand name, neither does it support the confidence and trust the customer should have in the product and has come to expect from the VW brand.

I want to know if you will allow your child to drive a vehicle that is as unreliable as this vehicle has proved to be.

Until now I have believed in the VW brand, I have convinced people that it is a quality brand and that it is reliable;

I have not in all my years of buying NEW vehicles (VW and AUDI) experienced anything remotely like I have experienced with this VW Polo.

That it should be regarded as acceptable or even considered to be acceptable to continue with this vehicle after we have experienced this type of failure at 29970km, is beyond me. What is going to happen from this point till we get to 60 000km?

To date the maintenance plan and policy had to pay out R27, 458.89 and that is only during the first 30,000 km’s; after the policy expires, I am responsible for any breakage and/or failure and it is with dread that I think of this.

I should not have to be in a position where I have to again pay for a new vehicle to get rid of my current VW problem which is in fact a result of the engine problems and what this poses in terms of the future.

See the Service and repair history of the Polo 1.4 since purchase date:

18 Feb 2014
Milage 6152
1st Annual Service (normal)
R1009.98 incl vat
********** 2

08 Aug 2014
Milage 9811
Replace Sub Frame (rusting)
R4617.73 incl vat
********** 6

03 Mar 2015
Milage 14256
2nd Annual Service (Normal)
R1770.51 incl vat
********** 4

28 Aug 2015

Milage 20648
Replace coolant pump
R1644.39
This was the breakdown alongside the R300 off ramp onto -N2 ( Dangerous area )

08 Sep 2015 -

Milage 20625
McCarthy Call out fee for breakdown next to N2
R550.70
McCarthy Technician callout to Bellville on Sunday

29 March 2016 -

Milage 27673
3rd Annual Service (Normal)
R2388.15
********** 1

08 July 2016

Compression Failure + Breaks(Normal break change)

Compression on Cyliner in bar1(3.6)

2(4.5)

3(5.7)

4(7.6)
Milage 29970

R17121.82
********** 6

Currently 21 Oct 2016 back at the work shop trying to diagnose why the car is powerless and jerking while driving. ( fish bites as they call it)

The dealship themselves are willing to assist by doing their part however VWSA would not come to the part to assist me in any mean what so ever. ( And I have been LOYAL to VW and AUDI driver for years - proof below.)

I have purchased from VW and Audi since 1992-3.

I bought my first VW, a 1.6 Jetta, in 1992 whilst living in Kimberley(Northern Cape) after being a Toyota customer unit then.
I traded the VW 1.6 Jetta and bought the new VW 2.0i Jetta;
I traded VW 2.0i Jetta for an Audi 1.8 A4 (new) in 1995.
Between 1995 till April 2007, I bought the following vehicles:

Audi A4 2.6 (new)
Audi A4 2.8 (Quattro) (new)
Audi A4 1.8 (new)
Audi A4 1.8i (Sport Suspension) (new)
In April 2007 I bought the Audi A4, 2L DTM (new limited edition); I had the computer upgrade done to enhance the engine output to 163kw; the upgrade/enhancement was performed at the Port Elizabeth (Uitenhage) VW Power Plant and the upgrade to the engine was certified at the VW Plant.

In 2013, I decided to buy VW’s for both of my children:

VW Polo 1.4 Comfortline in 2013 (for my daughter);
VW Polo GTI 2013 (for my son);
The following vehicles were purchased between 2013 and 2014;

Audi Q5 N1 Audi Barons – 2013 (new) (my late husband bought this new for me);
Audi SQ5 Audi Hatfield – Pretoria (new)
In time I also influenced my late husband to buy Audi; he was a loyal Toyota customer all his life;

Since 2011, he bought the following vehicles:

Audi A5; (traded on the A7)

Audi A7; (traded on the A8)

The Audi Q5 as listed in number 11 for me;

Audi A8.

Prior own vehicles that I purchased:

In 2006 I bought a second hand VW 1995 Citi Golf for my son when he went to University;
This little Golf had in excess of 189,000 km’s on the clock and during the time we had it, added another +/- 55,000 km’s;

I moved to Cape Town in 2008 and the VW Citi Golf was serviced by N1 City VW;

In 2010 I sold the 1995 Citi Golf and bought the VW Golf Storm for my daughter; she was starting College and needed a reliable car for her to travel with;
This vehicle was serviced by the Bellville branch;

Unfortunately due to some workmanship issues that transpired at the Bellville branch (admitted to by Bellville branch) the vehicle gave mechanical problems; I decided to sell the vehicle in 2013.

So now I ask as a LOYAL customer where do I go from here? I am stuck with a problematic vehicle, driving a dangerous road every morning ( that i have broken down on before, luckily assistance was at hand).

PLEASE HELP
