VW Passat Shattered Sunroof

On the 02 February 2018 I was informed by my wife of a spontaneous destruction of the sunroof while in motion. I personally traveled to collect and inspect the vehicle myself. If damage was from the impact as they stated I would have called Alexander Forbes Insurance not VWSA , their terms are more favorable e.g 30 day courtesy vehicle instead of 2 days by VWSA.

On the same day the assesor VWSA , Mr Jason Smith informed me that his examination was inconclusive at the time regarding the cause of the damage to the sunroof. I requested them to provide me with "evidence " of the impact as it was not visible to me. On the 03 February 2018 I inspected the vehicle at the Dealership and there was no visible damage to the roof lining"curtain" in fact it was not damaged at all. I did not find anything to indicate external damage which to me pointed a manufacturing defect on the sunroof.

Nandi Klaas from the dealer later sent an email with Mr Smith final report. In it it stated that the sunroof is not a VW part. This obviously means that it was fitted after the manufacture of the vehicle. I must highlight that I bought this car as "demo" from your dealership at NTTVW King Williams Town and I was informed it was factory fitted.

I requested to be provided with "evidence"before Friday 23 February 2018 so that I may lodge claim with Alexander Forbes Insurance as any further delays will prejudice my claim. I am unable to lodge the claim as I do not have any "evidence" that this is external damage which Alexander Forbes Insurance is responsible. They have since ignored me and the consultant has since been on sick and no one is prepared to assist me. They can’t provide me with concrete evidence that it was an impact but only thumb sucking
