VW Melrose bad service and customer interaction
My VW Vivo's aircon stopped working at the start of November 2018. Being close to its next service, I took it in to VW Melrose mid-November and told them to look at the aircon and to do the next service a slightly earlier. I explained that I brought it in early, that the aircon did not work and that they needed to specifically look at it. This was in November 2018. They did the service, and mentioned only that the aircon was regassed. (Incidentally, they did not bother to reset the service indicator in the dashboard.)
The aircon was not fixed, and did not work. I took in the car again (a part needed replacement that they did not have in stock at the time of the service) and I specifically called to say the aircon was still not working and needs to be looked at and determined what the problem is. Again, the aircon was not fixed and this time they offered no reason on why they continued to charge me without repairing the aircon or even establishing what the problem is. In fact, the service representative said that it was something along the line of wear and tear, basically a proxy for not knowing what the problem is.
It is now mid-January 2019. I have lodged a complaint, spoken to at least 4 people from VW, including head office and the service representative and none of them have suggested any remedy. The head office told me that they are not interested in helping me, and relegated responsibility instead to the dealer/service centre, VW Melrose. The service agent still could not tell me what the problem is and suggested that I bring the car in for a third time, to which I rep**** that twice they have signed off without fixing or identifying the problem. (They did not offer any kind of other solution to the problem, such as at least identifying the problem without charging labour yet again.)
This means basically that I am going through the whole summer without an aircon. VW does not seem to care much about the quality and state of their services and I would not be surprised if they slowly and eventually lose their market share and competitiveness. At the very least they could have admitted that they either did not do their job as on the service agreement or admit that they are not competent enough to know what is the issue with the aircon.
Although the people at VW were friendly and civil, that certainly did not help to fix my car.
