VW Horror Experince
I reside in Bellville Cape Town and My 2016 VW Polo Vivo broke down about three weeks ago. The car suddenly refused to move when on Second and Third gear, PURELY WITHOUT ANY SIGNS OR ANYTHING GONE WRONG. Since the car is still under Warranty, I tried to arrange for VW Parrow (Where I purchased the car) to come collect/tow the car and I received a run around of a life time. I later arranged for VW SA to intervene and suddenly arrangements were made to come tow the car. But the car was delivered to a different VW Dealer, it was Barons Bellville(My Hell). This is where my horror really started. Here, a lady by the name of Christine welcomed me with a Quote which I did not understand, since the car was under still under Warranty. I refused this quote and I called Vw Parrow to intervene. I spoke to a Jackie and she spoke to Christine and I was later updated by Jackie that since the car was still under Warranty all is in order and that the car was being fixed. A few days after, I received another quote from Christine of Barons Bellville, of R16 000. She explained that the quote was for fixing the car and should I NOT continue, I will have to pay a R3000 for an Assessment. Apparently, this was because Clucth problems are not covered by the Warranty. What made these news even worse to accept is that this Christine lady seemed to be enjoying being the bearer of the news. I was in a bad situation when my car broke, but when I involved VW (Barons Bellville to be exact) i found myself in a real Horror Movie. I feel as if this entire situation was an inevitable "Money Trap". They kept my car for over a week, doing what I researched to be a one day job. They are charging me R3000 for "Assessment" vs a R4000 quote that I received for fixing the car(Labour included). Is VW trying to rip me off? Mind you that a Brand new Clutch Kit costs R865. To anyone who is considering purchasing a VW, be careful and consider this story.
