VW Bleeding Us Dry

I just bought a brand new VW Polo Vivo 1.6 Comfortline. I noticed that the engine cover was missing, and contacted the dealership only to be told that this item does not come standard with the car, and is sold separately for R501.11. This is absolutely ridiculous, as this cover protects the coil packs from water and dirt. I've never seen a car come without the branded engine cover, especially to be told that it can be purchased as an extra.
