Volkswagen for life? I don't think so
End November, beginning December I had a problem with my car. It was taken through to Midbay Motors in Richards Bay. My car was there for just under 3 weeks whilst these people tried to figure out what was the issue, this was after we told them that the key and control box needed to be replaced. Eventually after becoming nasty towards these people, I finally got my car back: new key, new control box, but the hooter was not working when the alarm was switched on and off. Needless to say, I was still happy that my car was back. Towards the end of December, my cars alarm and electronic locking stopped working altogether. I knew that it was going to be an uphill battle with Midbay Motors again as it took them 3 weeks to attend to an instruction. I decided that my best option would be to contact Volkswagen SA's Customer Care department as I knew you usually get more joy out of a customer care department. So, on 8 January I made my complaint. A very friendly lady assisted me and she assured me that I have made the right choice to report this matter to them. She promised that they will have this issue sorted for me with the dealer. I had to wait 48 hours for feedback. So, I waited patiently and after 48 hour I finally called them. I was told that they were just about to phone me to find out if the dealer contacted me. I have had no response from Midbay Motors and neither at that stage had they responded to the Customer Care department. She was going to follow up for me immediately and contact me back.......no call by the end of the day. The next day I contacted them again and she sounded shocked that the dealer did not get back to me. She then told me that I can also contact the dealer to talk to them. Hello!!!! If I wanted to fight with the dealer I would have phoned them in the first place!!!! I eventually ended up phoning the dealer, just to be told that the 2 technicians/mechanics that will be able to assist me, is on training and they will only be back the next Monday. I was promised that these people will contact me the first thing on that Monday morning. (That was now this week Monday) Monday came and Monday went.......no feedback. Tuesday I again phoned the Customer Care department, enquiring if they heard anything from the dealers. I was once again promised that it would be followed up immediately and that I would receive a phone with feedback......no phone call, not from the dealer, not from the Customer Care department. It is today Wednesday, still no feedback. This has been going on for 2 and a half weeks now without me being any step closer to resolving my problem. Where do I go to from here? Where do I complain further? Maybe Volkswagen is not worried about customer service? I think I need to try and get hold of one of the directors of Volkswagen SA, maybe they will listen......
