VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP - HATFIELD - Washington needs to be dealt with!!

The Hatfield Volkswagen dealership's pathetic excuse for service needs to be addressed immediately!!

On Tuesday, 4th April, my wife's vehicle was transported to the dealership for repairs.

To cut a very long story short, as I quite frankly do not have the time, we were contacted and told that in order to commence with the vehicle diagnostic, an amount of R1300 had to be paid upfront!

I would refer to Washington as 'the gent' who dealt with me.. but he is far from that! This man should be dismissed! He is by no means an asset to the business, in fact a complete liability. One would assume that the ability to deal with people would be an essential requirement during the interview process of applicants at VW, however that seems to have been overlooked in this case.

As an employee and representative of a national brand, he should know better than to hang up on a customer! I was told that if I was not happy with what he had to say, then I should just collect the car and be done with it, before slamming the phone.

A gentleman by the name of Jonathan then tried to assist and stated that the payment would not be necessary and informed us that only a fuse was “missing” which was the reason for the fault in the first place. The last thing my wife would do is tamper with anything she knows nothing about!

Jonathan advised the car was to be sent to wash and would be ready for collection and all was resolved, I had dropped my wife off to collect the vehicle only for her to find out that this was not the case.

Jonathan, who manages the workshop gave an order and Washington bluntly refused to oblige; his words were "He is only the manager… I do the job here!” .
Washington proceeded to tell my wife that he was busy with another three cars which had arrived that morning and did not have time to deal with mine which had arrived at the dealer the previous day already. My wife was now stranded.

To add insult to injury I was forced to purchase a new battery which was R600.00 more expensive than its closest competitor, without labour costs!! Eventually I was informed that the alternator was faulty and was quoted R15000.00! No thanks! and that they would have to send the vehicle to the alternator specialists in Pretoria West in order to resolve the problem.

I took the car myself to the said branch in Pretoria West the following day only to find out that the alternator was perfect and the only actual problem was a fuse that lies on top of the battery. They had to reshuffle the cables to the battery as the VW Workshop had *****ed them in the incorrect slots. The vehicle started immediately and is now running as normal.

I now lie with a broken battery cover and ripped cable insulator thanks to the carelessness of the VW Workshop which is meant to provide better service than external parties.

I hope this complaint reaches the relevant parties and I urge you to please address the matter! Washington is costing the business revenue!

I will certainly never set foot there again and will be spreading the word.
