Very Disappointing Outcome for Clutch Inspection

Till today I have never had to change a clutch plate pressure plate & fly-wheel on any vehicle owned prior. Last week before while reversing out my driveway, the clutch pedal suddenly fell to the ground whereby no gears could be selected. After dropping the vehicle off at VW, they now tell me that repairs would be in the region of 30K. The report states that my clutch has burnt out very badly that the metal actually has turned blue which is caused by excessive take off in 1st gear or from towing which they deem may be the cause. The vehicle is a 1.4TSI and I can't see the vehicle getting anywhere in a drag race, so where does this stand.... a vehicle of 3 years needs a whole overall on the clutch system.... I find this utterly ridiculous and have never had this with any prior owned vehicles.... why now with a vehicle which should be offering value due to the model within the VW Family??? I don't see how within a space of 3 years, where the warranty has just finished.... I must be paying an exorbitant amount of cash. I left BMW for their major shortfalls which I pointed out due to fact and evidence after many years thinking I am joining a new family logo which was told to me.... offers quality under their hood.... just another brand misleading customers on what their vehicles really offer. I left BMW in good reason only to walk into a new depth of customer dissatisfaction. Really disappointing considering that the mileage being low and the fact of the matter being that I have owned various vehicles which has never put me through such grief
