VERY BAD BUY! I BOUGHT A POLO 1.0TSI COMFORTLINE BRAND NEW IN 2019, ONLY HAS 102 000KM ON THE CLOCK ANDCABON BUILD UP ALREADY, FIRST R8000 SPENT WAS NOT THE ISSUE IT NEEDS NEW INJECTORS!
Here is the story.
On March 10th I started my car at our office in Belville on my way home, and their were almost no revs, and the fuel system and the engine system lights came on in the instrument panel, I could barely drive the car as there was absolutely no power but I slowly drove it to my closest VW dealership as I didn’t want to take the car to anyone else, VW have serviced my car all along.
The car was then checked in and they told me a diagnostic needs to be done and my car has no warranty or maintenance plan the 3 years are done and although it has not reached 120 000km, the 3 year period has expired, I had no choice but to have it done, I need my car for work, the contacted me the Monday and said the diagnostic sent them to the fuel system but they will need to do a technical diagnostic, this will now be R5000 which includes the electronic diagnostic, again I had no choice.
They informed me that after the technical diagnostic the technician informed her (Zanele se service consultant) that the fuel injector seals need to be replaced as there is carbon build up in the tank that is why it misfired that would cost an additional R1700, we agreed.
The day after we were informed there are no good news, the work was done, and the car is still misfiring, and the lights are still burning…they are looking into it.
The 17th March I was contacted to tell me good news the car is ready I can collect, I got there Monday as I wasn’t going to make it in time to collect Friday, I was called at 4pm.
On Monday, I arrived, and the account was given to me, and the bill was another R1000 extra, and a pipe had to be replaced which was also R1000 which they didn’t charge me for, but they also replaced 3x spark plugs that I wasn’t informed about prior to replacing them, we paid, and I left.
The car was fine for EXACTLY ONE DAY! R8000 later and the car is broken again…I drove to Somerset West from Paarl and back and the following day the same thing happened on my way to work. I contacted Barons and Paul the Principle told me that I need to get the car to him but I cannot drive it, I asked if they will be collecting as there is 1 year guarantee on the repairs, and he said he cant do that, I need to claim tow in service from my insurers and also pay the excess of R650 as they need the car back…how is this even possible, I then at my own cost had the car towed back to VW on the 23rd after getting approval from MY insurance.
Paul, The DP called us and told us that the one of the fuel injectors need to be replaced and that costs roughly R8000??? I asked them what about the money I already paid which was not the fault and they said sorry it is consequential damage, and it happens when you drive only short distances with a car etc etc…I am telling you this is BULLDUST! I had a Polo with 250 000km that I never ever had mechanical issues with, and no carbon build up!
This Polo I bought brand new in 2019 and it only has 102 000km how is it possible?
When I took the car for 2 services in Krugersdorp VW at 60 000 and 75 000km (still under warranty and service plan) I told them to please check the idling as something doesn’t sound right when I start the car, I collected after both services and started the car and heard the same noise (like a car that needs a choke) I called the technicians back to come and listen, and they said the car just needs to warm up!!!! What nonsense are they telling us? And then this happened now at 102 000km. if they did their jobs right the first time when I was under warranty, they would have saved me these troubles, and If VW Barons Belville knew what they were doing I wouldn’t have been in this position.
I told Paul from Barons I am going to contact VW SA and he said it will be a long process and he doubt they will assist but I can try!!!!??????? Well then in that case I will use my consumer rights. The consumer protection act will protect me against all these useless vw technicians.
HOW IS IT EVEN POSSIBLE TO GET A DIAGNOSTIC WRONG???
Paul is now saying we can replace the one injector, but the carbon build up is in the system so all 4 will break sooner or later so we need to replace all 4 to prevent future issues, at R30 000???? NO, I AM REALLY SORRY! This is unacceptable, I will not leave this here.
I hope the Dealer Principles comment about trying but no guarantee that there will be assistance is not the case.
