UNJUST ENRICHMENT BY VOLKSWAGEN SOUTH AFRICA
VW Soweto: R11,007.74 Paid in 2021 — No Delivery, No Records, No Accountability
Timeline Summary:
3 Nov 2021 — Paid R11,007.74 to VW Soweto (Barloworld Motor Retail) for vehicle parts.
2025 (July) — VW Soweto Parts Department confirms no record of the order or payment.
11 July 2025 — VW Soweto Director Solly Maponya declines to investigate or assist, citing management changes.
14 July 2025 — Formal email to Director Maponya ignored.(I have proof)
Complaint Details:
1. The Payment (3 Nov 2021) I made a payment of R11,007.74 at VW Soweto for specific vehicle parts, supported by a stamped "PAID" invoice and a bank-verified card payment receipt (I have proof i emailed it to ***) they also have not responded.
2. The Discovery (2025) The VW Soweto Parts Department has confirmed there is no record of this transaction anywhere in their system. There is no evidence that the parts were ever ordered, processed, or delivered.
3. Director Solly Maponya’s Response (11 July 2025) When presented with the documentation, Director Maponya reviewed my proof but stated VW Soweto “cannot assist” and declined to investigate, blaming changes in management.
4. Follow-Up & Silence A formal email was sent on 14 July 2025 requesting a resolution, but to date, I have received no response.
Critical Concerns:
How does a payment of over R11,000 disappear from dealership records?
Why is a customer dismissed despite providing valid proof?
This situation raises serious Consumer Protection Act violations:
Failure to deliver goods (Section 54)
Misleading or deceptive conduct and omissions (Section 41)
Resolution Sought:
I call on Volkswagen South Africa to:
1. Immediately investigate this transaction and VW Soweto’s financial controls.
2. Provide a full explanation of how this payment was processed but never fulfilled.
3. Propose a fair resolution to restore trust and compensate for the 3.5 years of unresolved harm.
I have Invoice, payment receipt, and meeting notes. I didn't know how to upload them here.
I remain hopeful Volkswagen South Africa will intervene swiftly and resolve this matter.
