********* salesman, unhelful dealership

I have been looking for a new vehicle for the past two months. After much research, I decided to make the VW Golf GTi one of my first options. After seeing terrible reveiews on trhe internet for the Northcliff branch, I bit the bullet and went to go speak to the people there with an open mind. I was met by a friendly receptionist who put me in touch with Olivier. Much to my surprise, there was not a single Golf of any model on the premises for me to view, let alone test-drive. I was clear with Olivier with regards to what I was looking for, and added that I am not without a car at present and can therefore wait for my individual specifications. I left the dealership with the assurance that I would be notified when a Golf is available to view and test-drive. Olivier then emailed me 2 quotes of cars that have already been registered and are also not the colour or specifications that I requested, more than once. On Friday evening, I drafted an email clearly stating (in point form) what I would like on the car, and also asked what the Bodyline is and what the Safety Film is, as these are value-added products which I am unfami**** with, but were included in one of the quotes. I made it clear that I would like a quote with my individual specifications (which are not complicated by any stretch of the imagination). Today, Monday, I got 3 voicemail messages, and an email to contact Oilvier. Neither of my very basic questions were answered, nor was there even an estimate quote. I called Olivier and he told me that the colour I want is not currently available as all the GTis have already been manufactured in Germany and that I should take the car he quoted me on (not my colour of choice, a different wheel of choice, added items I do not need, as well as none of the products I asked for clearly). When I told him again that I am happy to wait for the specs of my choice, and all I am asking for is a quote and an opportunity to SEE a GTi, he said that he can only go ahead and configure it if I pay a deposit! For a quote, not to order a car I have not yet seen. I am not stupid and I know a fair amount about cars and I am very clear about what I want, which is what I said to him. How on earth am I expected to blindly purchase a car or pay for a quote? Hoe am I to decide if this car is a reasonable option for me if I don't know how much it costs or what it even looks like? Olivier then told me the deposit would be refundable but he needs it for Germany to configure my car. Once again, I am not ordering a car, I am asking to see a car, and asking for a price on a car. I have completed this process very successfully with another car that has far more intricacies than a GTi, but the GTi has been a car I have liked for a very long time, Against many negative testimonials about VW service and the endless hassles people have with GTis, I still decided to make up my own mind based on how I feel about the car. But I have been disappointed and utterly horrified by the fact that there wasn't a single Golf at the dealership, no effort has been made to make one available, and moreover, Olivier is trying to sell me a car I do not want, but he has the audacity to ask me for money for a quote. Olivier ended the call saying "Nevermind Madame, have a good day", and I have no idea where I stand with this process. Needless to say, after all the time and effort I have put in researching a car on my own, driving to a dealership, and then having to argue that a quote does not need a deposit, I am happy to admit defeat and accept that I am not meant to be associated with VW and it's ********* and clueless salespeople. And just as a side-note, I still do not know what a Bodyline or Safety Film is, nor what other value-added products are available to me with the Golf GTi. At the very least, your salespeople should be able to talk me through a car. I am not asking for anything above and beyond what a person's job is.
