Truth in Engineering or Poor Quality Control?

First off, I have been driving VW (and only VW) since the day I obtained my drivers licence 18 years ago. I am now on my 5th VW (Polo new shape), which unfortunately has been the one to make me reconsider moving to a different brand. It has has one incident after the other, rattles, noises, you name it. Barely 4 years & 40000km old and the boot stops locking requiring a new motor at R1500. I could understand this happening to a cheaper car, and older car, or a car that has had a nasty accident, what I cannot understand however is it happening to "Quality" vehicle of 4 years old that does barely 10 000km/year. To me that wreaks of poor quality control or workmanship for which I have now had to pay the price. The most disappointing of all being that I know nothing will come from this complaint, as nothing ever does. Perhaps losing one customer is not important to VW, I have made peace with that..... but at least I have had my say. Think twice before purchasing a modern VW vehicle!
