Too Bad being a VW Strijdom Park Customer
VW Strijdom Park, Randburg, have had my car for 2 weeks now, I took it in for service on 29/03/2019. I Went to go get my car after service and it was damaged. The warning lights were on for the steering wheel and safety features including traction control, cruise control, start-stop and ECS.
The car apparently was not accepting the software update for the recall campaign hence the warning lights.
I was told to take it on the Friday, use it and bring it back to the dealer on Monday 01/04/2019. I did that, and asked the service manager to make sure that they sort out the warning lights and the steering wheel.
I also asked the service manager to drive the car and feel what it drove like, as the car drove towards the right even when I drove straight and he did drove it and told me he identified the problem and would sort it out.
Monday 01/04/2019 afternoon, I was called in to collect my car. When I got to VW, the service manager told me they bent the steering wheel rod to get the wheel alignment right and then the steering wheel warning light went off.
I asked him about the safety features, he said they couldn’t get it right still with the software update. He told me it’s got to do with the sensors on the steering wheel.
I was given the car with the warning light for safety features still on, on top of that, I found out my car had a new scratch on the bumper upon collection and shown it to the service manager, to find out they didn’t know about it and they would investigate but would fix it as it had been with the dealership.
I decided not to take the car and asked the service manager to fix it first. I was told that they would be done fixing the bumper and the warning lights by Wednesday 03/04/2019.
No phone call from VW since Tuesday 02/04/2019, I called the service advisor and couldn’t find her on Thursday 04/04/2019 and then I called VW Customer Care for assistance.
I was called back by VW to inform me that they were still busy with my car and they would make sure they are done on Friday 05/04/2019.
The whole week went by without my car nor courtesy car.
On Friday 05/04/2019, VW called me in the afternoon and told me that my car was ready for collection. On the way there, the service manager called me and told me that the car wasn’t fixed and the part was broken on the steering wheel and needed a replacement.
I arrived at VW and requested a courtesy car as I had already needed a car for a week and I needed to travel out of town. I was told that they needed to order the part and claim it from my warranty on Monday 08/04/2019.
The service manager told me he would have to replace the part when it arrived. He said I should take my car, use it and bring it back when they receive the part. I asked him for a courtesy car and he said he didn’t have any available. I told him I wouldn’t take the car out if not fixed, for safety reasons as well.
The part arrived on Wednesday 10/04/2019 and I was given an update that they would start with the fitment. I got an update on Thursday 11/04/2019 that they were still busy but would definitely be either done with my car or give me a courtesy car.
It’s Friday afternoon at 4pm and I’m still waiting on VW Strijdom Park.
Besides all the phone call updates and back and forths, no courtesy car was given to me over this period.
This is prejudice against me and I’m beyond offended, love for VW gone.
