Terrible Service

I took my car in to the VW Melrose Arch/Jan Smuts dealership a week ago for an intermittent noise coming from the engine. After some investigation, the dealership indicated that the car had been in an accident and the repairs were not covered under the warranty/service plan. I advised that the car had been purchased brand new and had never been in an accident and the dealership must inspect further and provide proof that the car had been in an accident e.g. re-sprayed body parts, replaced parts, damaged brackets, etc. After two days the dealership reverted saying there are two bolts missing from a bracket in the engine - the bracket is therefore loose and resulting in the engine noise. Again the dealership insisted that the car had been in an accident and whoever repaired the car had forgotten to put on the two missing bolts.

Again, I indicated that the car had never been in an accident and the dealership needed to provide me with proof that there was an accident so I could take this up with the VW dealership that sold me the car.

After 4 days, the service manager called me to say the there is no evidence that the car had been in an accident and the repairs will be covered by the warranty/service plan. The service manager further indicated that it appears the bolts were left off during the assembly process. The service manager could not indicate when the car will be ready as this depends on the availability of parts - apparently the whole bracket now needed to be replaced.

It is now 6 days since I took my car into the dealership and I don’t know when my car will be ready. This is all because of VW assembly issues which took the dealership 4 days to diagnose. I've had to call the dealership every morning as they would not call me back. I have not been given a courtesy even though I’ve requested one everyday - this has resulted in me running up extensive Uber bills.
