Stay away from Amarok

During July 2013 I bought a new 2 lt Trendline Amarok from our local dealer at Potchefstroom.<br> According to promotions Amarok proved itself as very reliable. This actually persuaded me to buy the vehicle. The vehicle had several breakdowns during the first year and had to be towed to Rustenburg Volkswagen every time. The first breakdown (cambelt) occurred after approximately 3 months after I bought it. The vehicle spent a lot of time at the dealership whilst I had to rent another vehicle at own costs.<br> On 4 April 2015 it came to a standstill and had to be towed to Volkswagen dealership in Rustenburg once more. The vehicle had 105 000 kms on the clock and was 20 months old. It was according to the Volkswagen dealer just out of guarantee and not their problem any longer. The vehicle had a full service record at the dealership with the last service at 105 000 (ten days before the final breakdown).<br> Needless to say I felt cheated. Neither VW Rustenburg nor VW SA could assist to repair it or worse identify the problem.<br>
