Shockingly bad service - nightmarish experience
I took my VW Polo Vivo in for its 30000km service on 8 September 2017 at Volkswagen Hatfield. I requested that they check that my aircon works. I got the vehicle back on the same day saying that everything is in order and I paid R3000 for the service. I got the vehicle back bit with no working aircon. The next day, the Saturday, whilst driving my engine temperature warning light came on and my car overheated and I pulled over immediately. Volkswagen road side services then towed my vehicle to Lindsay Saker Midrand to be fixed. Lindsay Saker called me on the Monday saying they are looking at the problem. Tuesday they informed me that my water pump cracked and it needed to be replaced. I instructed them to proceed. I called them on Thursday and they said that my car will be ready at the end of the day, they never informed me that i can collect my vehicle. I called them on Friday and they said i can collect it that afternoon. But yet again my vehicle was not ready. Today on the next Tuesday I called again asking them what is going on. I was informed that my waterpump has been replaced but they neglected to send me a quote for my radiator fan that was damaged and that this part is not covered by my warranty and this would cost me approximately R5000. I called Volkswagen Hatfield and asked them how they signed off on my vehicle if the waterpump was broken and if the radiator fan was purportedly destroyed. They could not give me an answer. I am currently, almost two weeks later, without a vehicle and my bill is at roughly R8000. My experience with Volkswagen has been a nightmare and they offer no solutions. This is incongruant with the brand of Volkswagen and I sincerely hope that someone responds with a solution. I did not buy myself a "reliable" vehicle to pay R8000 for a routine service and to be stranded for two weeks with no answers and no vehicle.
