Shocking Service from NTT VW and VW SA
I would like to express my disappointment at the service I received from NTT Volkswagen East London and VW SA. On the 24 April 2018 I purchased a 2018 Polo Vivo with 12 KM mileage reading. The main reason for this purchase was to buy a Brand-New Vehicle that will not give me any problems.
Little did I know that I was shooting myself on the foot by purchasing a VW Polo which in my mind was a good buy at the time. This is my experience thus far:
1. Within two weeks of driving the car, the vehicle showed a tyre puncture light which I reported to NTT and was requested to bring it in at the workshop. I did that and was informed by the workshop guys that the light will go off it just needed to be adjusted. It was adjusted and thought everything was sorted.
2. On Saturday, 12 May 2018 as I was driving the Polo showed a temperature sign and I stopped at the garage. At the garage I was advised to buy the coolant and was filled in. I waited for about 20 minutes for the car to cool off and continued with my journey. The temperature sign re appeared again and stopped the car in few KMs where it was safe to do so on the freeway. I switched it off for more than 4 hours.
I drove it again and when I was about to get to King Williams Town, the same light reappeared. This time it was having a funny smell and over-heating. I stopped at the nearest garage near NTT in King Williams Town. Switch off the vehicle and the whole coolant was leaking out. When the petrol attendant attended to the vehicle by opening the bonnet and realized that the car was overheating and the oil was almost finished.
I called VW SA and was told to wait for a tow truck that was going to be dispatched. The vehicle was collected at 16:30. It was then delivered to NTT in East London on Monday after making numerous enquiries.
Concerns/ Unsatisfactory events:
1. I could not go to work on Monday and that posed a huge risk to my job. 2. Numerous calls that I had to make using my own money because of no feed back 3. Transport money that I had to pay that was not budgeted. 4. I might be not a technician; however how can a new car give you such problems? 5. The fact that I was stranded without a transport and being told that there are NO loan vehicles. 6. The fact that I had been sent from pollar to post trying to get a courtesy vehicle. 7. I spent numerous days without a vehicle until eventually they agreed to issue a courtesy vehicle. 8. The Sales blamed VWSA, VWSA blamed the workshop for the delay.
Verbal Diagnostic Report from NTT East London:
1. Heat Exchanger was leaking and the following is consequential. 2. Head Gasket is blown. 3. Seal on the water pump is leaking because of the water pump seal has melted.
Now VW is refusing to give me a new vehicle and they say that I must pay for the repairs. How can a new vehicle that is less than a month old have heating problems? This is obviously a factory fault. VW sold me a reject of a car which begs the question, is the quality you are getting from VW still the same? I beg to differ. Maybe this is not the same VW that we are used to.
