Poor workmanship Pathetic Customer Service

My VW Polo has always been serviced at Barons Pietermaritzburg since I bought it 2011. Even now it is booked for the 150000km service to be done on 5 January 2017. I am a loyal customer to Barons VW Pietermaritzburg. My family has bought 3 cars from Barons Pietermaritzburg in the last three years. All our cars are serviced there.

On 24 November 2017 my car suddenly cut off while I was driving it. It would not start after that. I called a tow truck and the car was towed to VW Barons Pietermaritzburg. I was allocated a Service Advisor by the name of Mr Josh Govender. He promised that VW technicians would look into the vehicle to determine what is wrong with it and he would call me back.

He did not call me back. I went to VW Barons Pietermaritzburg to ask him for an update. He said the cars engine valve has a problem which prevents petrol from reaching the engine hence the sudden cut off of the engine. He said they would investigate further and let me know. He didn't call me. Again I went to Barons to ask for an update. This time he said they suspect that the car loses timing due to the chain in the cylinder head jumping a tooth. He said they would have to open up the cylinder head and that alone would cost R4500.00. If they found a problem they would have to take the cylinder head to Richmond Engineering to fix the cylinder head. Obviously I would have to pay Richmond Engineers for that service. After the cylinder head had been fixed I would have to buy new parts for the cylinder head before they assemble it and install it in the car. He said this process would take about 8 weeks and roughly R22000.00. I thought about it and gave him permission to go ahead and open up the cylinder head. He said he would let me know the progress. He did not. I called him mid December and he told me that they had not yet opened up the cylinder head because engineers were closed for the holidays and would reopen on 8 January 2017. I accepted that. On 28 December 2017 I stopped by Barons VW Pietermaritzburg to ask him to prioritize my car as soon as the engineers reopened because it had been sitting at the dealership for more than a month. To my surprise he told me that my car is being worked on by a technician. The problem was indeed the valve and not the cylinder head as per their initial suspicions. He said he would contact me by 15:30 to fetch the car. He didn't call. On 29 December 2017 I received a call from Val, Mr Govender's colleague who told me that he had taken leave until 4 January 2018 but had asked her to fill in for him. She told me to come and fetch the car. I paid the fee that was required for replacing the valve. My wife drove the car home. We and we parked it. I tried to start the car this morning but it wouldn't start. It eventually started after numerous attempts. If I leave it idling it cuts off and shuts down. When I drive it it wants to shut down when it reaches 3000rpm. It's acts as if I have suddenly app**** brakes. Clearly the problem that the car had has not been fixed or has been misdiagnosed.

I will return the car today as a return job. I am not angry that my car sat at your dealership for 35 days only to come back with the problem that had having not been resolved.

When I return it, it must be prioritized because I will need it when I return to work next Monday.
