Poor service - over and over again.
I bought my 2nd hand double cab bakkie from VW Hatfield Rivonia at the end of June 2017. I live out of Jo'burg and the vehicle was delivered to me in KZN. Many promises were made about what will be done with the vehicle. 1. In the first instance the vehicle was delivered without the correct documents. These were finally sent and arrived after the expiry of the car license disc. My wife was pulled over twice in this regard due to the license already being expired! 2. There were chips in the windscreen which I was told would be fixed. They were, but done very poorly. PG Glass said that it could not try to fix again as would more than likely break the glass and that a new windscreen would be needed. I still have the original chipped and badly repaired windscreen. I was told I could just make an insurance claim at some point. 3. The airconditioning was not working. I had to take a lot of time to get this sorted out and now it works. I had to pay for this. I was refunded for this which I appreciated, but it was a lot of time out of my schedule. 4. Before purchasing the vehicle it was agreed that the 1 missing and 1 broken fog light would be replaced. I was told over and over again that it had been ordered. I was told over and over again that it had been sent. I had even been sent a tracking number, but it had never been sent. With regard to these fog lights, I have been **** to over and over again about their delivery and purchase. A senior salesman got involved and suggested that I get a quote to get the lights and to get them fitted. I did this and sent the quote. I was told that it was quite expensive. I therefore got another quote which was even more expensive. I suggested that they source a quote through their suppliers. This was more than a week ago and I am still awaiting a response. In total, I have been waiting nearly 5 months for these fog lights. 5. When I purchased the vehicle I paid for a 2-year warranty that VW Hatfield Rivonia sold to me. I paid for the vehicle and warranty in full. I was told that the warranty would be sent with the other documents. It did not arrive. I was told that it would be sent with the lights (mentioned in 4), but these have not arrived(!). Finally after weeks of having the vehicle I was told that the warranty did not exist! I thought that I had been driving my vehicle under a full 2-year warranty. Eventually, although dealing with an incredible amount of incompetence, a different insurance provider was sourced and I am now covered. Over the past 5 months I have dealt with a large amount of incompetence in the purchase of this vehicle. I caution anyone looking at buying a 2nd hand vehicle through VW Hatfield Rivonia to consider looking elsewhere. It could save you a lot of hassle. Alternatively, they may learn from their dealings with me and arrange for their staff to be trained better. Integrity, honesty and reliability can hopefully be taught and learnt! VW Hatfield Rivonia has the slogan 'No. 1 in Service'. I have not experienced it.
