Poor service and deffective cars

<p>Dear Elsie Meyer,</p> <p>I’m writing this e-mail in English because this is going to be forwarded to VW South Africa and Germany.</p> <p>Firstly, thank you for handing over my car’s old ECU so that I can test it independently.</p> <p>To say that I am upset with VW is an understatement.</p> <p>My VW Touran has only done 45000 Km and is approximately 5 years old and seem to have major failures.</p> <p>In November 2015 I paid 12114 ZAR to replace the cars’ EGR (see attachment). This is a well known problem and VW should have fixed it for free. They didn’t. Two weeks ago I was told that the ECU broke and it will be ZAR 31226 to replace. This happened while driving from Cape Town to Johannesburg. The car broke down on the N1 (a busy highway) at 16:00 in the afternoon. It put my family at risk.</p> <p>After some research I sourced a second hand part myself and couriered it from the UK.<br />This same part took VW over a week to price. The pricing only happened after I sent a complaint to VW South Africa and HelloPeter. It only took me 5 days to get a part from the UK. Is this the level of service people should expect from VW?</p> <p><br />Now after replacing the ECU I was told that injector number 4 is faulty and will be 11000+ ZAR to replace. And apparently the injector failed and caused the ECU to break.<br />Some of my other expenses include: paying for flight tickets to get back to Cape Town (5300 ZAR) and I still have to pay 6000 ZAR to ship the car back to Cape Town. This is because VW could not source the part in time and I had to return to work and get my children back to school.</p> <p>The points I want to highlight is:</p> <p>1. I informed Elsie Meyer that I wanted to speak to their manager and I still heven’t received any communication from Paul.<br />2. I will be testing this ECU independently to confirm that it is faulty as stated.<br />3. I was told that the injector failed and caused the ECU to break. If this is the case, then VW’s cars are faulty. How can a car be designed that when the injector breaks a 30 000 ZAR part breaks as well. Surely there should be fuses in place to stop this from happening. <br />A VW engineer should contact me and explain to me how is this is possible (by telephone and in writing).</p> <p><br />How do you expect anyone to pay 54340 ZAR on a car that has been well maintained with low mileage.
