Poor service

Hi Peter, i bought a Polo VW TSI in October 2015, all brand new. i had a breakdown on Sunday 17 July 2016. And VW towed my car to nearest dealership which McCarthy VW in umhlanga, Durban. The car had 29 940km and I was going to arrange and book for its second service for 30 000 km. And unfortunately couldnt make it to its second service. and when the dealership run diagnostic tests they discovered that the clutch is worn out. I asked for the diagnostic report and they sent me one line on email saying upon inspection the clutch is burnt and needs to be replaced. and he quote to repair amounted to R24 972. Geez, you'd swear its silver or gold clutch. And I told them that the car has a warranty and is almost brand new. I was told that the clutch is not under warranty since its a wear and tear item. So does that mean theres no guarantee on this item? I referred the matter to VW SA. They told me that they need pictures of the damaged clutch. And the dealership wanted R5 500 for them to strip the car and take pictures for VW SA and i have to pay that.

But why are we charged so much money? thats a total *******. Firstly a brand new car with no warranties and now i have to pay this much for stripping. I called the dealer where i bought the car and they advised that i tow the car back to them. When calling VW SA, they said i must pay for towing the car to Richards bay where i bought it. Why are we payiing for service plan and warranty plan if VW is not even sure of their product themselves. Can anyone assist with regards to this matter.

And i asked for courtesy car i was told that i had to book it 5 weeks prior, as if i had known that i will have a breakdown.

Firstly I'd like to get clear information on the warranty itself. Secondly, the cost to repair why is it so high? And for the courtesy car as well, just want to know who is eligible to get it since i didnt book it 5 weeks before.

thanks
