Not what you expect from Volkswagen

<p>My first car I purchased was a Velocity Golf brand new. I had the car for close to 10 years with absolutely no problem not one other than regular service intervals. I decided to stick to one brand and in 2014 purchased a 2013 polo blue motion. It is 2016 and I am in my second year of having the vehicle. The vehicle was schedule to have its 75000kl service however for a few months the airbag light has been flashing on my speedometer and above the radio. I just left it as I knew it was due for a service in any case and can be resolved then. To my surprise after booking in my vehicle I am told that the airbag switch has defused and needs to be replaced and it would cost me more than R1200 to replace? Now firstly, how does this happen to a 2013 model vehicle? I have friends with 2011 and 2012 models and this has not happened to them but only me? I cannot be told simply it is a mechanical fault? No I need to understand what caliber material Volkswagen decided to use on my vehicle that my vehicle is singled out from the rest and I have to fit the bill...sorry not our problem? When you finance a vehicle especially a newer vehicle you can finance it for up to 72 months and I would think that if it is a Volkswagen parts should last for more than 6 years at least because we are not dealing with just any vehicle? Why should I pay more than a R1000 to fix a part that in my opinion should last for at least 6 years ? If that is the case then surely there should be a statistic report on all 2013 polo blue motion vehicles having the same problem. I am very disappointed and dos not expect this from a brand I believe in. Furthermore I would like to add that the service from Philwest was excellent and that The consultant who assisted me through the process Chantal was very professional. However I would like Volkswageb to give me a full undertanding and explanation and I would like to know why only my vehicle is doing it and not other blue motions, what makes my 2013 model so special?</p>
