NEW POLO 7 GTI PANOROMAIC SUNROOF EXPLODING WHILE DRIVING

Plus minus 2 weeks ago I was travelling from Johannesburg to durban.While doing a speed of approx 129kmh the sunroof shatters with glass flying into the vehicle. Fortunately we only experienced minor skin abrasions and both being doctors by profession we quickly pulled off and attended to ourselves. There were no trucks in front or bridges above or any possibility of a stone hitting the roof. The roof was also fully closed at the time of the incident. This incident could have led to a loss of eyesight life or even derailing into adjacent cars.. Apart from the emotional and physical trauma experienced I'm not sure if I'll ever trust driving a vw again. . They also no longer keen on hearing any further requests from my side.. The investigation says that a small stone chip can extend over time and cause the roof to shatter this is irrelevant in my case as my roof exploded at high speed and shattered into many pieces. even if there investigation holds any grounds keeping in mind that i bought a brand new vehicle this still makes it and extremely unsafe vehicle to drive with the risk of your roof exploding at any time. I don’t feel safe in the car nor would I feel safe having any family members in that car. I feel its completely unacceptable in light of what occurred 1. Firstly having missed a night in my hotel 2. Traumatic roadside assist to ladysmith 3. Physical abrasions caused by glass shattering 4. Pay for my own mobility 5. Pay for repairs to my own vehicle 6. No access to a courtesy car even with a 3 weeks’ notice 7. Emotional distress on my vacation 8. Driving an unfami**** manual car back to johannesburg 9. Daily admin or phone calls with vw to beg for further mobility 10. Brand new vehicle purchased at cash price including an extended warranty Whats just as dissapointing is after paying to repair my own car(17000) and paying my own car hire(6000) i get it returned with remnants of glass still in the netting above the sunroof which even now is still there and the netting cant open and close properly. i have communicated the matter sveral times with them i have given them and the dealership the car was purchased at a letter of demand(signed for) but i have gotten no response from the dealer and vw south africa . no apology for the poor work done subsequently on the roof. when i try and call they say that the manaing director is out of the office and will call back but no feedback at all . ive given up calling vw sa i currently dont feel safe in my new polo7 gti. im not sure what type of business establishment vw south africa is running. many thanks faeez ahmed
