Lindsay saker East Rand

I have bought my polo tsi brand new in August 2016 and it is now 4 years old and on 106 000km. I have never been involved in an accident and I have never missed a service. 2 weeks back I took it for oild service and I collected it the fuel gauege was not working. I reported this to the VW dealer and the assessed the car and the results were everything is fine with my car. The isame issue persisted and I took it back to VW dealer today and now I am told that the fuel level sensor has damaged... I am not OK at all... Does that mean life of VW fuel sensor lasted for 105 000km. Why did it stopped working after service. I am totally confused and not satisfied at all.
