Indian Life matters ???- McCarthy Volkswagen Durban/ Dealer principal zero response

Good Day

my complaint below submitted to McCarthy Volkswagen Durban (The dealer principal ) He failed to acknowledge or reply to my complaint to date .

*********************

Please see complaint below that was sent on 30 May 2017, to which I have received no response.

The car was taken back to the dealership on 30.05.2017 and to date I have not received the car back, or any feedback pertaining to the complaint. This has left me no alternative but to escalate the query.

This is not acceptable and I am paying high instalments for a car that I purchased “brand new”

I am not happy with the motor vehicle in question and would like a replacement vehicle

***********************

I would like to place on record that Mr K Naidoo purchased the above vehicle in June 2015. The vehicle purchased was new. Purchase price was aprox R 550 000.00. From inception, the performance of the car was in question and VW was made aware of this.

The car has been serviced regularly but after the first service at Umhlanga, the vehicle was not as robust as it should have been. I made a note on the file after the service that there were issues with the brakes and performance of the car.

I have been driving the car to work and back for the last year, as Naidoois unable to drive, as he has a disability that prevents him from driving. Recently, I experienced many issues with overheating and having to put water regularly in the car. After the car was booked in, Maree advised me that there was a crack in the water bottle that stores the water for the windscreen piper. He even took a picture of this. It remains a mystery as to how the crack appeared and was glued together.

The car had been at the dealership for more than 2 WEEKS. During this time, I was not even provided with a courtesy car and I was indeed inconvenienced by this. When I picked up the car, Maree did advise me that the cracked water bottle was not replaced. However the engine was stripped and parts were replaced and intense work was done on the car for two weeks, as per service agent feedback.

After having received the car back and expecting it to be mechanically sound, to our dismay it was worse than it was before it had gone in for repairs. Again I was having to put water in every single day and needless to say, it started overheating soon after. On 30.05.2017, whilst on my way to work, I got a few warnings that the engine is overheating and the car was barely even moving. Being a woman and driving alone, this was extremely stressful. Driving down Fields Hill and attempting to change lanes, the car did not even move, almost being the cause of a collision and many irate drivers behind me.

Both myself and Naidoo are at our wits end with the car and are finding ourselves in a what we consider, a rather stressful predicament. Further to this, we are not happy with the work that was done for two weeks on the car and refuse to go through this entire ordeal again, as we purchased a premium brand vehicle and are experiencing problems that second hand vehicles present. K Naidoo pays a monthly instalment of approx. R 10 000.00 per month and he feels that this car has been a substandard investment.

We have purchased more than one vehicle from this dealership and have referred this dealership to many family members and friends. We have had issues with the VW Polo also, whereby we were provided with the incorrect lock nuts and tools. My daughter had a tyre puncture during the night and was stranded in the middle on the road and no one was able to assist with changing the tyre, as the tools did not work. This has been subsequently resolved by the dealership and the correct tools have now been provided to us, a year later.

We are also questioning the authenticity of the car and are not convinced that the was infact a brand new car when we purchased it, as it was a being painted and we waited for the delivery for 3 weeks.

We are not happy to continue driving this car, a car that we consider rather expensive and has not met my expectations at all. We are having to escalate this complaint to VW SA as well as Motor Industry Ombudsman and a legal representative as a last resort. I would like feedback on the above as a matter of urgency.
