If only everything in life was as reliable as a Volkswagen....Is just another cheating scandal?

<p>5 years ago my wife and bought the first generation, all new VW Amorok. This went against allot of advise from double cab owners, who insisted that we look at a Hilux or Ranger. Their advice was "choose a double cab that has a track record and that is built tough”. But the beauty of the new VW fooled us and we thought that surely a manufacture who had a reputation of building quality cars would build quality double cabs as well. Where we mistaken!!! After owning the vehicle for just over 6 years and 125000km's we have had the fly wheel (part of the gearbox) break. After numinous conversations with VW SA it is official. VW accepts that it is standard that their “work horse” main mechanical parts can break down due to common wear and tear. This is crazy seeing the whole world knows that you can park a 10 year old Hilux in Bristol harbour and with a bit of Q10 get it re-started. Our use of the Amok was more a family car and did nothing a small car couldn't do…. After our extreme surprise at VW accepting this as an excuses not to cover the parts replacement, can you imagine our surprise when the second letter arrives advising that VW can not predict the lifespan of the parts they use…</p> <p>So warning all VW Amorok current and future owners…. VW’s are not built to last. They accept common wear and tear occurs at around 120k km’s and that as now of the biggest car producers in the world… they do not guarantee the quality of the parts….</p> <p>If you looking for a double cab that will last over 120 000kms stick with a manufacture who builds their cars to last… Ford Ranger or Toyota Hilux!</p>
