I am very disappointed with multiple factory faults that I have been experiencing on my brand new car that I had bought from Barons N1 city in Cape Town from the 1st month to date. Please see the email that I have sent to Andrew Angels of Barons N1 City on 31/09/2023.

Dear Andrew,

I hope this message finds you well, though I must admit that I am far from being well due to the ongoing ordeal I have been facing. I am writing to express my profound frustration and growing disappointment regarding the incessant issues I have been grappling with since the purchase of my car. Despite my unrelenting efforts to resolve these matters through countless emails and phone calls, I have been met with insurmountable barriers in having my valid concerns given the attention they deserve.

To provide you with an exhaustive overview, I have painstakingly compiled a comprehensive list of the relentless problems I have encountered with the vehicle:

21 September 2022: The vehicle was taken to Tavcor in Gqeberha to address a gear malfunction and radio issue. However, my sense of ownership and agency was stripped away as the car was hastily repaired on the very same day without even the courtesy of seeking authorization. This blatant disregard for our agreement, to consult me or my partner before any repairs, is disheartening.

25 November 2022: Another visit to Tavcor was undertaken to address the stubborn first gear selection issues and a jamming switch for the driver's side window. Astonishingly, despite my patient persistence, these problems were left unresolved during this visit.

31 January 2023: An email was meticulously composed to report a persistent faulty window switch problem. To report the recurring EPC warning light warning have left me powerless, both in terms of engine performance and in seeking a proper solution for these consistent first gear problems.

14 March 2023: The alarming discovery of an electrical fault in the airbag control unit and the recurrent EPC light warnings, coupled with power loss, led me to take urgent action. Even with substantial evidence in the form of videos and images, the vehicle was only scheduled for repairs on 11 April 2023. This was after a slew of follow-ups, phone calls, and emails to convey the imminent dangers of operating a faulty vehicle.

28 August 2023: With a heavy heart and mounting concerns, I find myself reporting the third instance of the EPC warning light fault. Attached videos painstakingly illustrate the power loss preceding and following the warning. A request for swift action and a booking arrangement for the necessary repairs was made urgently. This plea was reinforced by Yolande's unsettling statement: "You are welcome to leave the vehicle with us, but then I cannot confirm when an opportunity will arise for the vehicle to be looked at."

This pattern of persistent problems, coupled with a distinct lack of accountability, leaves me deeply disheartened and troubled. What is equally concerning is the apparent reluctance of both Baron N1 City and Tavcor to acknowledge the responsibility of providing a courtesy vehicle. This alarming trend, highlighted by the fact that I've had to fight for this basic service on prior occasions, further fuels my growing frustration in dealing with this seemingly endless cycle.

The cumulative weight of these ongoing issues has left me not only exasperated but genuinely concerned for the safety of my family and myself. The dismaying reality of encountering factory-related defects, which have persisted since the inception of my ownership, has only served to intensify these emotions.

While I acknowledge that my vehicle is under warranty, it is imperative that we confront the root mechanical and factory-related defects that have plagued my ownership experience. The fact that these issues have endured for over a year is not only intolerable but raises fundamental questions about the integrity and reliability of the vehicle.

I implore you to understand the gravity of the situation; the sheer urgency of it all. The insistence on repeatedly returning the vehicle for repairs, despite the recurring problems and the lackluster resolutions offered by both VW Barons N1 City and Tavcor, underscores a concerning disregard for my safety and satisfaction. Even though a tentative booking is set for September 1, 2023, at Tavcor, I am profoundly uncomfortable with the notion of prolonging this ordeal, given the severity of the issues and the unsettling uncer*****y surrounding the timeline for repairs.

Given the gravity of this matter, I respectfully request a meeting with either you or the director of VW Barons N1 City in Cape Town before the end of next week. The purpose of this meeting is to deliberate on a pragmatic solution. Specifically, I am requesting a straightforward exchange for a brand-new vehicle that is entirely devoid of the persistent defects that have tarnished my experience with my current car. Given the undeniable recurrence of these issues, this is not only a reasonable expectation but a crucial resolution to ensure my safety and satisfaction.

I want to emphasize that, given the circumstances, I anticipate all expenses related to this meeting will be covered by VW Barons N1 City.

I genuinely hope that my concerns and frustrations are acknowledged, and I earnestly look forward to a swift and effective resolution to this matter.

P.S. It is imperative to recognise that the warranty on my vehicle does not negate the validity of my concerns regarding the persistent mechanical and factory-related defects that have marred my ownership experience since the outset.

Sincerely, Olona Tamela Contact: 076 178 335
