Fuel filter and subsequent EPC Light

I bought 2 vehicles in 2017 from Volkswagen and I have services these vehicles at their outlets thereafter. However, I've recently learnt that during both the minor and major service conducted under maintenance plans they did not change the fuel filter at any point. The fuel filter dates match the manufacture dates. When I called about this I was told I'd have to now pay for the change myself, as they are now out of maintenance plans, even though they were meant to be changed while they were being service at the time they were covered. The EPC light now comes on and the warranty policies they sold me say's they wont cover anything.

This is really horrible service from VW SA as I've not only serviced my cars in Gauteng but also in KZN.

I would really appreciate it if management stood up and fixed all subsequent issues caused by the company's gross negligence and poor service. I actually find this to amount to bad faith from this car company.
