Faulty ABS Control Module

<p>My vehicle's ABS control unit has given way.</p> <p> </p> <p>After doing some homework this is apparantly a very common issue on VW Golf's (MKV) and Tiguans.</p> <p> </p> <p>Long story short - VW of America, VW of UK are honouring this fault and even being out of warranty pay for a new ABS control Module + labour.</p> <p> </p> <p>VW SA however - tell me I wont get any help from them. And what seems to me, the units go anywhere between 40 000ml(65 000kms) to 80 000mls(130 000kms).</p> <p> </p> <p>It has also been brought up on many occassion that this type of component shouldnt be failing even at the amount of age and km's our cars are.</p> <p> </p> <p>Im currently sitting on 113 000kms.</p> <p>I even urged VW to inspect my vehicle - I honestly have one of the cleanest well kept VW Golf 5s. They were not interested. I have been asked by friends and people at VW to sell my vehicle to them based on the condition it is in.</p> <p> </p> <p>The goodwill agreement found in the USA and UK apparantly is based on service history with the agents. Which I have since the vehicle was purchase, has only been serviced with VW.</p> <p> </p> <p>To add insult to injury... the control module is the issue not the pump, but you are forced to buy both units as one. the cost for the unit - R37 000.</p> <p> </p> <p>I have gotten a price in the USA of $1 300. Original part.</p> <p> </p> <p>SA's price equates to double!!</p> <p> </p> <p>When turned down on cutsomer services line - I asked why - my vehicle being too old.</p> <p>But I queried why USA and UK are being honoured under the goodwill?</p> <p>No they have different warranty periods - no they dont!</p> <p> </p> <p>I then asked how many has VW SA replaced on a goodwill basis - and no answer could be given.</p> <p> </p> <p>VW SA are mearly trying to save themselves money and not honour that there is a blatent fault and a serious safety fault at that.</p> <p> </p> <p>A VW Golf in the states got this error while driving and spun 180 degrees. Luckily not getting into an accident. Another however was not so lucky and hit into a tree.</p> <p> </p> <p>I cant believe the service I got and how I was told off that VW will not honour this fault - no matter how high I take it.</p> <p> </p> <p>Perhaps it must take a serious accident or even deat to occur before VW SA acknowledges the ABS Control Module fault.</p> <p> </p> <p>Kind regards,</p> <p>CASA</p>
