Disgusting service from Volkswagen princes benoni
Hi. I'd like to start by stating who I am. My name is Dawie Alberts, I am a qualified mechanic and businessman, I have a workshop specializing in German vehicles which I have had for 18 years. Over my years I've owned over 40 Volkswagens and currently have 5 Volkswagen vehicles.
So needless to say I am fami**** with the industry and Volkswagen vehicles in every aspect. And I am a patron to the brand.
In May 2019 I purchased a new Polo Vivo for my wife as a gift, what should have been a smooth transaction became a 3 week nightmare. First I traded in one of my older vehicles, a 2012 Polo gti, which was immaculate, but had high mileage. prince's vw Benoni refused to pay book for it.
Then the trim I requested on the new car wasn't available, but I was assured they could source one from another dealer, they did, but with R50,000 worth of optional extras which I didn't want, but I ignored the bad trade in and unwanted extras and did the deal regardless.
A week after taking delivery of my wife's car I returned it to prince's Benoni with the following complaints -grinding noise on start up resonating from the cylinder head -piston slap when cold -a knock when reversing -vibration on oull off but not a clutch shudder -a deep grunt when revving the vehicle with clutch depressed
I was assured that they would address my complaints but they will call me back and I should take the car and wait for them to advise.
I never received feedback
This week when I took another vehicle of mine for service (Polo Tsi) I enquired if there was any news on my wife's Polo Vivo, they asked me to bring the vehicle when collecting mine.
I left the complaint car there and was given a loan car, a Polo Vivo identical to that of my wife, it had no issues and drive much better than my wife's car.
But when I went to collect my wife's car, they told me that all my issues are normal characteristics of that car. So why wasn't the loan car the same? Why are none of my other polos the same?
I met with the dealer principal to discuss the matter and request a replacement vehicle, he told me that he would not help in that respect.
According to consumer protection law, within the given time frame, if the supplier can not repair they are obliged to replace.
As a patron to Volkswagen I deserve to be treated with a certain level of respect, yet I'm being pushed aside after all my patronage and loyalty.
The level of serviced received from Volkswagen is disgusting to say the least.
