Be very careful before you buy a VW vehicle

<p>I bought a VW Up from VW Wondertboom. The VW website is full of nice customizable options until you want to make a customization. I wanted a silver VW UP with white interior and a Bluetooth unit. But as you will find out, you will have to fork out an additional R9000 because VW only imports this combination if you take a sunroof. So I went along with it. To my surprise the Bluetooth unit (R4000) will play back audio from my phone but with an added feature. First the unit will intermittently pause the music and then after 30 seconds play it but, as it plays, start lowering the pitch in a similar fashion as to when you slow down the playback speed of a vinyl record. This continues for about 2 minutes. When the next song starts to play, the same happens again. I contacted VW Wonderboom and they referred me to VW South Africa. VW South Africa claims that the unit is an after fitment and that it is the responsibility of VW Wonderboom to solve. However VW Wonderboom buys their Bluetooth parts from VW SA and there is only one type of Bluetooth device available. This means that we have reached a deadlock. In short the supplier does not take responsibility for the **** they sell to the public and using a “Hide behind the dealer” strategy to achieve this. VW Wonderboom tried to solve my problem with a third party device but it did not want to integrate with the radio of the vehicle. Thus leaving me with an vehicle that has a sunroof I didn’t want and a Bluetooth unit that doesn’t work. As luck has it I found out today that apparently 3 year service plans are only included in the price of selected models of Volkswagen…guess what….the VW UP does not include it so I have to fork out an additional R7500 for it.</p>
