Barons tokai pathetic service and customer care

In April last year I was super excited to take my vehicle, I just purchased recently, for a service at BARONS TOKAI. I went through the process of booking in the vehicle, and was thr at 7am on the arranged day. I had a cup of coffee and was a proud vw owner. The vehicle was taken to the back and I was on my way home with their shuttle. It felt good to be treated as a BARONS customer and I was impressed with the swift service. On my way home, I was called back being told I have no service plan in place. This came to a complete surprise to me, but I believed the professional agent called ROWAN. Embarrassed I left there with my vehicle, and panickly I had to search for an alternate place as I was already late for the vehicle's service. I found an RMI registered place called NEVILLES AUTO and because of sheer desperation I had to pay R2700 cash that was budgeted for my mom's 70th birthday party.

The vehicle was serviced and I enjoyed it thoroughly, being a 2012 GOLF VI GTI, having done minimum Kms on it and in showroom condition.

About a month ago the engine management light went on on the dash display. I immediately consulted my vehicles manual where it explicitely said "drive the vehicle slowly to your nearest dealer. Upon contacting BARONS TOKAI, and the agent doing the regular/usual check on his pc, I was told that I have a service plan in place which is valid till 2019 or 135000 whichever comes first!

You can understand my anger after paying R2700 even though I had a plan in place!! I immediately approached the service manager Yusuf and questioned him about this ***** up!! I was told that the gentleman at fault Rowan was not employed there anymore and that I would not be refunded. By now my blood was boiling, and I was furious. I was however able to contain myself and was hoping for a reasonable explanation and excuse for this F....up. This however never happened. There is still no satisfactory explanation to what has transpired. I was promised via Yusuf that they are willing to compensate me by assisting with payment with my next service. This proved to be a rather silly proposal as my plan covers my vehicle till 2019! I in any case declined the offer and demanded my cash back as it was there fault I had to pay cash somewhere else!! They seemingly wanted the easy way out and to sweep things under the mat. Upon my refusal of the proposed arrangement I was blamed for taking the vehicle to an external service provider. What was I to do after being refused and showed away by them!!?? VW was another disappointment telling me that they are only an "inbetweener" with no authority to force anything down on BARONS TOKAI. My vehicle has now also been on twice now for the engine management problem. First an induction pipe was replaced which costed me R1300 cash as warranty didn't cover the part. The very next morning the light was on again and I was told it "could be" the flap motor, whch I was told was faulty. Once again the vehicle went in and I was quoted 9k of which the warranty paid 6k,and me the outstanding 3k. Today my brother in law collected my and after driving about a km or so he called me to say the management light is on again. After several attempts to get hold of someone at BARONS TOKAI, nobody returning my calls, I was told to bring the vehicle back ASAP...!! So I'll be back there soon and wondering what I'll be told this time around and what the cost will be!!? The previous "service case" is now with the ombudsman whose requirements relevant paperwork which BARONS is already indicating they might not have!! Is this a curse on be that I cannot shake or Just PATHETIC SERVICE!? Last question :How will I contribute to my moms 70th birthday party.. Looks like I'll have to absent myself all thanks to BARONS TOKAI!!
