3 Year Paint Warranty

My car has two distinct lines where the paint is faded on the roof. I booked my car in for a service and advised the service consultant Liesl about it. I was advised that the VW paint specialist will be at the dealership 21 April 2015. The service manager and the specialist will take a look at the car. This morning I was called by Janine to advise that the paint warranty is only 3 years. I understand if my complete roof was faded but not two distinctive lines. I was advised that I can take it to one of their approved suppliers and then I had to ask is it at my own cost and I was advised yes. This is unacceptable.
