Incompetence and Poor Customer Service
On Fri, 2 January, I had my Sony Xperia Z1 (guaranteed to be waterproof up to a submerged depth of 1.5 meters) in my pocket at the beach and after a wave brushing against my shorts and me immediately removing the phone from my pocket, it was completely dead.
Saturday, 3 January I returned the phone to Vodacom Tygervalley where I completed the required documentation for the phone to be inspected by Sony.
By Friday 16 January I have not received any feedback from Vodacom or Sony. On that day, called to enquire about the status of the inspection/repairs. After waiting on the line while someone followed up, it was confirmed that nothing was actioned on my request.
Wednesday 28 Jan, I received an sms that the Quality Assessment of the phone was completed. Thursday 29 Jan, I received notification to collect.
On Sat 31 Jan, I went to collect the phone, which I assumed was repaired. Since no other feedback about the nature of the damage was given to me. On collection I tried to switch on the phone only to discover it was beyond repair. I am now expected to do an insurance claim and pay R500 for damaged phone. I feel ********** and messed around after being a loyal customer for 7 years
