Z3 Compact Repair

I handed my Sony Z3 compact phone in on 27/3 and was told max 14 days. although today is only day 11, i just called and was told my device is still under assessment with Sony techy. The lady also spoke about a quote where i then said i will not pay as the phone never dropped and there is a known issue with the Sony screen cracking by itself. All i want to know is when will i receive my fixed phone back as i am paying for a contract but not using the phone??? the last sms i got was saying it is in the repair process, how long must i still wait??? Further, why does Sony make a phone, sell it as \new strong glass"but within the first 3 months the thing cracks? Job number ***0"""
