You've lost a life long customer
I’ve had one contract after the other with Vodacom for many years. My debit order is always deducted on the 1st of the month. On the 1st of May I had insufficient funds in my account and my debit order bounced – this has never happened before. So I went into a Vodacom shop and paid my debit order of R308.50 cash – I still have the receipt. As soon as money became available in my account a few days later Vodacom deducted the R308.50 from my account. I then had my bank reverse a debit order which cost me R35 in bank charges. I called Vodacom to sort this out and they confirmed my cash payment is reflecting and I reset the debit order again. There was no mention by the call centre agent that a R100 fine will be deducted with my next direct debit. I also stopped receiving invoices via email despite asking for them. On the 1st of June R408.50 was deducted from my account which I didn’t raise a fuss about despite being annoyed that the call centre agent I spoke to reset my direct debit didn’t bother to inform me of this. Also note my other debit orders, like my insurance, doesn’t charge me a penalty for a missed or late debit. On 1 July R308.50 was deducted. On 1 August R308.50 was deducted. In the middle of August I called Vodacom asking them to change my debit order date to the 8th of the month because I changed jobs and my pay date has changed. I was assured by the call centre agent that the next debit order will be deducted on the 8th of September and no mention was made of an increase in my debit order amount. But on the 8th of September R617 was deducted from my account and when I called the Vodacom call centre I was told that I still owe them the R308.50 from May. So Vodacom is telling me all their other call centre agents **** when they said my cash payment is reflecting. I reversed the R617 debit order once again & will make the last 4 months payments before my contract comes to an end in cash. I can’t wait to be done with this contract and want nothing to do with Vodacom after that. I’ve always been with Vodacom. You’ve lost a life long customer. Not that you care because SA consumers are the suckers that are milked so that your mother company in the UK, Vodafone, can recuperate the savings that their UK customers get by paying next to nothing for calls and data.
