You left me unable to access my account for nine months

I have had a contract with vodacom for 15 years, and decided last month to cancel the contract and convert to a prepaid number instead as I am living overseas for nine months. I phoned a helpful man who said that it would go through at the end of March. Roaming was activated on my line before I left SA and was successfully working before the line was converted to prepaid.

On the 1st of April, my phone was suddenly unable to connect to the Vodacom network from Argentina. I phoned the call centre who told me that international roaming was not activated on the prepaid number, which was why the line no longer connects. I explained that it always was activated and that Vodacom deactivated it when it was migrated from contract to prepaid. She was not at all helpful though, and told me that I should have activated it before I left SA (even though I did!). She also told me that she can't activate roaming once I am overseas, and I need to return to SA to activate it. I told her that I would not be coming home for nine months, and she again was not particularly helpful or interested.

I use the SA number to receive my banking OPT pins while I am overseas, which basically means that Vodacom has made me unable to access my bank account for nine months! How am I expected to make and transfer payments when I was assured by the man who cancelled the contact that all would be fine with the migration even though I was overseas?

Please inform me how you are going to activate international roaming on the number while I am abroad and solve this major issue.
