Wow........what absolutely pathetic service.

I have just been the recipient of the worst service I've ever experienced in my life, thank you Vodacom.

My wife lost her cell phone on Saturday evening and when she realised this at about midnight, she used my telephone to contact Vodacom to block her line. Vodacom then proceeds to block my line instead. (This is not allowed as Vodacom does not have the authority to block my line unless granted to do so by me.)

When my wife calls them back to aler them to their error and to reverse the blockage, they told her only I am able to request that my telephone be unblocked and that she should wake me up to do so, which she did not. I then called Vodacom at 08h15 on Sunday morning for the first of many many times, to request that they unblock my phone. they said they would and that it should be unblocked within the hour.

When I was still blocked an hour and a half later, I was told by another call centre agent to switch my phone off, put it on again select a different service provider and switch back to Vodacom and that it would work, obviously it did not. I called back again and this time asked to speak to a manager or team leader whom I felt would have the competency to address what was now becoming a technical situation in my mind. the call centre agent then tells me that there are no managers that work on the weekends. I asked to speak to a team leader and she tld me that there were no team leaders working on weekends too (its a real pity I did not write her name down as I've seen similair complaintys by others lamenting the same issue.)

The call centre lady then proceeds to tell me that it will take 48 hours for my phone to be unblocked and even if there was a manager on site that it would take 48 hours to unblock my phone .......REALLY in this day of super high tech systems Vodacom requires 48 hours to reverse a problem they had caused in the first place.

At this point I was fed up with speaking to a call centre agent and decided to go to the Vodacom shop at Cresta to speak to someone face to face. I spoke to a manager there who told me that Vodacom is using a new system now and that is why these delays take so long, but 48 hours is the maximum and that it should be working by Monday morning again.

So, come this morning, I call Vodacom again and speak to yet another call agent who assures me that he is able to unblock my telephone immediately and that i should be up and running in 10 minutes, needless to say I was not. I called back again at about 11 and spoke to another agent who asked me to switch the phone off and on again and that she assures me that it would work.

She then tells me, like 2 of her colleagues yesterday, that she would call me back within 15 minutes to a half an hour to confirm that my problem had neen resolved. i told her I was n ot going to hold my breath as her 2 colleagues had made similair false promises and she assured me that she would be different. Of course she did not call back either.

During the course of the day I had received a message to say my issue was escalated, and at about 14h30 I received another sms to say my query has been resolved and the ticket will be closed, yet my issue still remained, I could not make any calls.

At 3pm I tried calling again and after the 4th attempt, 3 calls were answered and immediately dropped, the 4th call was answered by an agent who transferred me to a lady in the accounts or billing department. The lady there then tells me that she will send an e-mail to their IT Department to request that they expedite my unblocking. When I asked her why the call centre lady told me that there was nothing that could be done but wait for the 48 hours, she tells me that they only the call centre and do not know what is possible and what not ....REALLY Vodacom, you put people in a call centre that do not know that it is possible to resolve queries in a different manner?

This whole experience has taken up a good part of 2 days for me and I am still stuck with a telephone that cannot make outgoing calls due to a situation that was not of my doing in the first place.

Needless to say, when my contract comes up for renewal, I will not by renewing with Vodacom again, even though I feel the other service providers are probably more inferior, as a matter of principal I cannot.

Your standard response to these complaints are "thank you, an agent will contact you shortly" - dont bother Vodacom I am way past apologies and am really flabbergasted that you treat your customers with such disdain.
