Worst fibre migration ever
Vodacom bought our fibre service provider (Evotel) and we were notified that the migration would take place in the first week of September. That weekend, our connection was cut off without us having received the new router from Vodacom. After 48 hours without Internet and multiple calls to Evotel and Vodacom, we were told that the migration hadn't been done and we were reconnected to the Evotel network.
This week, we were told the change in networks would happen on Thursday and that there would be downtime from 9 to 5. We still hadn't received the Vodacom router as of 1pm on Thursday. After numerous calls to all of the contact people whose numbers had been provided - none of whom could tell us what was going on - the accounts lady at Evotel finally found out that the technicians were on site. We had to track them down in the complex, and were told they would come set up the router.
It is now 18:30 the day after, and we are still waiting for the router to be set up. When the technicians did arrive, they couldn't find the configuration attached to our order and said they would be back.
We called Vodacom customer care ( ********** ), and the agent said there was nothing wrong with the configuration. He then gave us a number ( ********** ) for the fibre scheduling department. This number rings and then the call is cancelled. We tried repeatedly for over 2 hours and they cancelled the call every time. We subsequently got another number from the call centre ( ********** ) and the same thing happened.
The call centre agents also can't get hold of the scheduling department. The technicians on site can do nothing locally, it seems, and we are faced with a long weekend with no Internet.
In total, that will bring the number of days of downtime this month to 7. We run a business from home and have had to use or mobile data in order to stay operational.
Needless to say, we have now used R1000 worth of mobile data. Our monthly fibre subscription is R1300.
In addition, we cancelled DSTV when the fibre was installed a year ago, and we have no access to the streaming services we use to replace that. This terrible migration has therefore cost me money, affected my business reputation, and left me with no way of watching TV for the second weekend this month.
Immediate resolution is necessary!
