Worst Customer Service from a Cell Phone Network
Vodacom, I have NEVER been so disappointed at the complete lack of customer service I’ve had to deal with over the past two/three weeks. On the 10th of September, my data had supposedly run out even though the MyVodacom App read that I had just under a gig of data left. I have always been able to buy extra data bundles through Vodacom and now “My contract doesn’t allow for this service”, even though I’ve had this contract for almost two years. I only ended up calling Vodacom on the 12th, where some woman told me that the data I had left was ‘Night Owl Data’ and when I told her that wasn’t what it said on my side, she responded saying something along the lines of “Well now I am telling you” – with the most revolting attitude. She then proceeded to tell me that I needed a letterhead from the company and a copy of the member’s ID (as the phone is in my father’s company’s name) – she gave me no email address and told me to call back the next day so I could get permission to access all the information needed to find out why I couldn’t load any more data. I called back the next day and got through to another woman who gave me an email address and told me to send through the documents and that I would get a response within 24 hours. Vodacom, I don’t know how to tell you this, but 24 hours is ONE DAY. I then called back again on Monday the 16th of September, where a woman asked me a whole bunch of security questions and then said she needed to chat to my father and call me back, so she did. At the end of this call, I was under the illusion she had added an extra gig of data to my account and that I would have access to data in a few minutes and that she would activate the ability for me to buy extra bundles as I please but, again, it would take 24 hours. I received an SMS stating that this extra gig of data had been added to my account but still, I had no data. I then called back the next day and spoke to another woman who told me that I needed to switch my phone on and off (I **** you not! Like I didn’t try that one). She phoned me back an hour later and told me she had logged a complaint with the technical guys and that I would hear back from them in 24 hours (I’m still waiting almost two weeks later). My father also spoke to this woman and requested a data print out and was told that it was ‘broken.’ I then phoned Vodacom on Friday the 20th of September, again, and got through to a rather rude gentleman who told me that everything these women had supposedly been doing didn’t happen and they never said anything, and I didn’t receive an SMS, etc. so I asked him to find someone else to help me. I then received a phone call from a guy called Lonwabo, who was probably the most helpful person I’ve spoken to so far, who carefully explained to me that some law had changed in the past year so contracts weren’t allowed to add extra bundles, etc unless you activated the option (I still don’t know if this is even true!) but that I needed a FORM (which was not mentioned earlier) plus a letterhead and ID to be emailed and that it would take 24 WORKING hours (approximately 3 days) and not just one day. Vodacom, it’s been a whole 11 days since this last interaction and I still do not the ability to buy extra data bundles. My minutes are depleted, and my phone has been pretty useless the last three weeks. In the wake of all the gender-based violence going on in South Africa, how safe do you think I feel that I can’t even TRY to get hold of someone or use any of the safety apps I’ve downloaded due to YOUR APPALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE! It has been nearly three weeks since our first interaction and I have to say that I am beyond disgusted at how pathetic your customer service has been, if I could give this company a rating of zero then I would.
