Worst customer service and *********** staff when you request cancellation of contract

I hereby inform you that I want to cancel my contract. I do not want to be a Vodacom customer – all my contracts and everything you can bill me for should be cancelled with immediate effect.

My previous two year contract expired earlier this year and I wanted to get Wi-Fi from Vodacom. I opened the contract on 27 October 2016 at the Menlyn mall branch. The service was however, never connected and I could not utilise this service.

I made phone calls to the Menlyn Vodacom shop where the contract was opened on Wednesday, 02 November 2016 and explained my situation. I made a 2nd visit to the shop on 03 November 2016 to be helped, phoned again. Still no success. The service was not yet activated. On Friday 04 November 2016 I phoned the Menlyn branch again at 09h16, 11h01 and 14h58 to be assisted and enquire as to the status of the connection I kept on being promised. No success. I made my 3rd visit to the shop on 06 November 2016 and my 4th visit to the Menlyn branch on 08 November 2016. Still, I was unable to utilise the Wi-Fi services. In the meantime, I was unable to continue with my business from home and I was unable to write an on-line examination as I had no access to the internet as a result of the above.

The staff at the Menlyn branch promised that the service would be activated and that I should not cancel the contract. Time and again they requested that I be patient and wait for the technical team to “sort it out”. Needless to say, by that time the initial 7 days had already expired in which cancellation of the contract could take place. By 08 November 2016, I think you would agree that it was then only fair to make a final request to cancel the contract.

I asked Mr Ashqeek Gasant at the Menlyn branch to cancel the contract with Vodacom. He was helpful but apparently did not get any assistance from Vodacom. I was later told that the upgrade was cancelled when I followed up by phone call. Yet, I received statements for this contract for December 2016. Clearly the contract has not yet been cancelled. During telephonic conversation with Manager, Ms Mariska Prinsloo, at the Vodacom Menlyn branch on 19 December 2016, I was informed that the upgrade was cancelled in-store, but that I had to phone ********** to cancel the contract. I have phoned ********** on numerous occasion now, but the line disconnects soon after it rings. Consultants also appear to take immense pleasure out of wasting my time by keeping me on the line and transferring me to various persons, but none actually assisting me. This is unacceptable. I am near tears with frustration. I have now had a lady who answered on 082 111 tell me the system is down.

Please assist me to cancel the contract!!!! For ease of reference, Account number: NA021813-8. After this Vodacom will always have a bad rep with me and my family.

Good day Vodacom

This matter has not yet been resolved. After various additional visits to Vodacom shop in Menlyn mall, the customer service shop in Menlyn mall, multiple phone calls to the accounts department, multiple assurances from the accounts department that the upgrade has indeed been cancelled and promises that my monies will be refunded.....

Where are we at? Vodacom still sends me invoices. I have still not received my refund...

Problem: empty promises and Vodacom acts can simply be viewed as unacceptable in terms of consumer protection right perspectives. How can you take my money if you have not been able to provide me with services? I have returned your wifi device and all in its original packaging after you failed to connect the services. I refer to my first complaint on 19 Dec 2016. This is unacceptable..

And if I cancel your unauthorised debit order at my bank (something you SHOULD have done already) I risk your *********** staff having me blacklisted...

So please tell me how you plan to resolve and correct this matter. If there is no interdepartmental communication your company should address this. I am extremely unhappy about this situation. Please assist me.
